Welcome New Tumblr Friends!
Tips to New Folks Arriving on Tumblr!
Greetings to you all, we’re happy to have you! I noticed a number of new folks in the tags and on my follower list, so I thought I’d drop a few quick tips on how to make the best of your time on Tumblr.
Posting your own original content is fantastic – we all want to see your Gposes and stories!
Also, consider creating a pinned post with information about your character or what you expect your content to focus on. Use it as a way to introduce yourself and your interests (or that of your character if you prefer).
To really meet folks and find friends, however, it’s all about interacting. This means you’ll often best succeed by taking the initiative to follow others and interact with them first!
Showing interest in other people’s work and characters opens the door for others to show interest in yours.
How to do this? Here’s a few ideas:
- Drop comments on other people’s posts – let them know you appreciate their content, art, OCs, etc.
- If someone posts an Ask/Question prompt, don’t be shy to send them an ask with a question/prompt in it – folks who send me Asks always catch my attention and I’m likely to interact with them or follow in return.
- After you send an Ask/Question prompt to someone, feel free to reblog it for yourself – you might not get a whole lot of Asks at first, but keep trying. Just be sure to send an Ask to the person you’re rebloging it from first (as that’s polite, and helps make connections).
- Reblog content if you really enjoy it! However, I’d suggest having a healthy ratio of your own content vs. how much you reblog.
- Signal Boost (reblog) other people who are new and have posted a looking for friends/blogs/RP posts. Even if you feel like a small blog, you are important in getting the word out - the more we support each other, the more we grow together.
- If someone leaves a comment on something you’ve posted, try to respond if you can!
Most importantly, know that it takes time and consistency to connect with Tumblr folks, just like IRL. It’s rare that you make sudden best friends with someone IRL, so give your online connections time to develop, too. Spend time learning about others in the fandom, and reach out to those who seem to share the same sort of interests.
Ultimately, we’re here to have fun and enjoy our fandom. Those who just chill and celebrate what they love – rather than stress about earning followers or likes – tend to shine brightly in the fandom. Remember what you love and why you’re here to begin with.
Best of luck in finding a home on Tumblr!

other people have said this but elon musk might actually be the dumbest person alive for thinking it’s a good idea to limit views on a website that makes money through advertising
